About this Course

The Town of Oakville is proud to partner with Halton Black Voices and YMCA of Oakville to offer the Deep Roots: Basketball Leadership Program. The program is funded by the generous support of Canadian Tire Jumpstart and Canadian Parks and Recreation Association. Deep Roots: Basketball Leadership program will leverage basketball as a medium to integrate learnings about (1) mental health, (2) sports and racialized stigma, (3) health and wellness, (4) career exploration, and being advocates for positive change. This program offer certifications to eligible participants including NCCP Coaching Level 1 Certifications, First Aid and High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development at no cost. This program is intended to provide opportunities to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) youth who would otherwise experience barriers in accessing training and certifications.
